You will be in direct communication with me

by tele hone from 10 WU, which the Captain Superintendent of Police is arranging.

Two Battalion Signallers with equi ment to man

one station if required, will be attached to you.

You will keep me fully acquainted at least every two hours of the situation or more frequently, if necessary.

The troops, except those on post, will as far as

possible sleep in the Railwe, carriages but you will take

the usual military precautions especially during the night.

The se men should be able to turn out rapidly from the

carriages on to their Alam Posts,

50 rounds on the man carried in the bandolier.

20 filled magazines per Lewis Gun.

The unexpired portion of the day's

rations will be carried. Also one

day's preserved ration as a reserve.

Rations for consution to-morrow,

2nd instant, will be despatched either to-day or first thing to-morrow. Capt. Walters, I „M.S, and R.A.M.C. Staff are proceeding with you. Bamber Oil will be issued to the troops and

will be used.

Strict precautions will be taken as regards Drinking Water under the direction of the

Medical Officer.
